Right now, cyber resilience is a major priority for organizations all over the world. With more companies than ever working on digitizing their offerings, the topic has become relevant to the extent that governments have introduced strict compliance regulations, forcing organizations to protect client data from hackers, scammers, and malicious viruses.

All of this has created an increasing demand for skills and experience in cyber resilience. Aiding an organization in preparing for, reacting to, and recovering from potential cyber threats is an excellent way for candidates to stand out. This applies regardless of the candidate’s role, as establishing and following cyber resilience best practices is extremely important even outside of IT.

In short, studying cyber resilience is a viable and valuable option for a variety of candidates - but what is the best way to get started?

What is RESILIA Cyber Resilience?

‘RESILIA’ is the world’s first dedicated cyber resilience framework. Created by AXELOS, it offers tools and best practices to help organizations build a holistic cyber resilience approach that integrates people, processes, and technology.

Reflecting the breadth of the issue itself, RESILIA is also an agnostic framework. Regardless of an organization’s location, industry, or sector, RESILIA’s approach to managing ITSM, business, and security can still be utilized.

All of this makes RESILIA an excellent choice for anyone interested in studying cyber resilience or building up their knowledge of modern practices. Still, it is always worth considering the potential benefits of training before making an investment.

So, what is the real value of studying RESILIA?

The RESILIA Certification Path

Those interested in studying RESILIA will be glad to know that it has a simple certification path.

Candidates start with the RESILIA Foundation exam. The Foundation syllabus offers an introduction to cyber resilience and risk management before moving on to different stages of the ‘cyber resilience lifecycle’: Strategy, Design, Transition, Operations, and Continual Improvement.

Once a student has passed the Foundation exam, they can then move on to the RESILIA Practitioner examination. This syllabus revisits elements covered previously and establishes their relationship with ITSM (or, specifically, the ITIL v3 framework). It also goes into detail on how to apply RESILIA in practice.

Being an AXELOS framework, RESILIA also works extremely well with other big names in the AXELOS portfolio. These include PRINCE2 and ITIL 4. Because of this, certain RESILIA students will study multiple frameworks as part of a long-term training plan.

What Is the Value of Getting Certified in RESILIA?

Before we look at salaries, it is worth keeping in mind that high-level positions in cyber resilience and security will always require a certain degree of experience. Training alone is rarely sufficient to unlock the best job roles out there. That being said, certification is an excellent way to stand out, as it instantly verifies a candidate’s knowledge and expertise.

We should also reiterate that RESILIA training is highly relevant across multiple disciplines, including ITSM, information security, business analysis, project management, development, risk management, and security architecture. It will only continue to become more relevant to these areas, creating multiple opportunities for candidates with the right skills.

Here are just a few examples of job roles that can benefit from studying RESILIA (according to Payscale):

IT Project Manager:

  • USA: $58,000 to over $140,000

  • UK: £28,000 to over £79,000
