Study PRINCE2 (2009) at Foundation level with this online training course, the first of a two-part PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification for Project Management professionals.

Although all current PRINCE2 certifications are based on the upgraded 2017 version, this course remains an ideal introduction for individuals pursuing a career in a PRINCE2 environment or already working as part of a project management team within an environment supporting PRINCE2. Please note that this course does NOT include an exam voucher.

      The project characteristics and what makes a project different to business-as-usual
      The six project variables, also know as the six performance targets
      What a Project Manager does
      The structure of PRINCE2 and the four integrated elements

  • Module 2: The 7 Principles

    • Learning Objectives

      Each PRINCE2 project should include seven principles. If even one of these principles is missing from the project, it cannot be considered a PRINCE2 Project.

      This Module takes you through all 7 PRINCE2 Principles.

  • Module 3: Themes - Business Case

    • Learning Objectives

      This is the first module of the 'Themes Section'. This theme provides the mechanisms and knowledge to make sure that the project is desirable, viable and achievable and that it remains valid throughout its lifecycle.

  • Module 4: Themes - Organization

    • Learning Objectives

      This Module looks at the 'Organization' Theme, and it's purpose. It will provide some Organization definitions, what a project is and what a program is.

  • Module 5: Themes - Quality

    • Learning Objectives

      This Module looks at the 'Quality' Theme, which explains how to make sure that the project achieves the desired quality for the project’s products.

  • Module 6: Themes - Plans

    • Learning Objectives

      This Module looks at the 'Plans' Theme, which provides the basis for effective project management, communication and control by defining the means of product delivery.

      This Module looks at the 'Risk' Theme and effective risk management in a project.

  • Module 11: Processes - Starting Up A Project

    • Learning Objectives

      In this module you will learn about the 'Starting up a Project' Process, which makes sure that the prerequisites for initiating a project are in place by answering the question: "Do we have a worthwhile and viable project?".

      You will also learn about the objectives of the process, the activities involved, key inputs and outputs and roles and responsibilities.

  • Module 12: Processes - Processes - Directing a Project

    • Learning Objectives

      In this module you will learn about the 'Directing a Project' Process, which enables the Project Board to be accountable for the project’s successes by making key decisions and exercising overall control, while delegating day-to-day management of the project to the project manager.

      You will also learn about the objectives of the process, the activities involved, key inputs and outputs and roles and responsibilities.

  • Module 13: Processes - Initiating A Project

    • Learning Objectives

      In this module you will learn about the 'Initiating a Project' Process, which enables the organization to understand the work that needs to be done to deliver the project’s products before committing to a significant spend.

      You will also learn about the objectives of the process, the activities involved, key inputs and outputs and roles and responsibilities.

  • Module 14: Processes - Controlling a Stage

    • Learning Objectives

      In this module you will learn about the 'Controlling a Stage' Process, which involves the assignment of work to be done, monitoring of work, dealing with issues, reporting progress to the Project Board and taking corrective action.

      You will also learn about the objectives of the process, the activities involved, key inputs and outputs and roles and responsibilities.

  • Module 15: Processes - Managing Product Delivery

    • Learning Objectives

      In this module you will learn about the 'Managing Product Delivery' Process, which controls the link between the Project Manager and Team Managers by placing formal requirements about accepting, executing, and delivering project work.

      You will also learn about the objectives of the process, the activities involved, key inputs and outputs and roles and responsibilities.

  • Module 16: Processes - Managing Stage Boundary

    • Learning Objectives

      In this module you will learn about the 'Managing a Stage Boundary' Process, which allows the Project Manager to provide the Project Board with sufficient information to review the success and performance of a project stage, approve an incoming stage plan or updated project plans and confirm continued business justification and acceptability of risks.

      You will also learn about the objectives of the process, the activities involved, key inputs and outputs and roles and responsibilities.

  • Module 17: Processes - Closing a Project

    • Learning Objectives

      In this module you will learn about the 7th and final 'Closing a Project' Process, which checks that the project has reached its objectives and that the products have been accepted.

  • Module 18: Tailoring

    • Learning Objectives

      The Final Module will provide an overview of tailoring and the PRINCE2 approach to tailoring. We will also look at how a project is tailored to PRINCE2.

 

Exams / Assessments

From January 2018, all PRINCE2 certifications switched from the 2009 version to the updated 2017 version. Therefore, this accredited 2009 PRINCE2 Foundation course does NOT have an official examination.

Although this course is not the most up-to-date version of the PRINCE2 Methodology, it still offers a valuable introduction to project management and will be suitable for anyone wishing to persue a career in PRINCE2.

A certificate of completion will be available for anyone that successfully completes this course (by way of numerous knowledge checks and in-course tests which conclude each module).
