DevOps culture has come to permeate the worlds of business and IT. With over 74% of organizations having adopted DevOps as of 2016, there are few IT professionals who aren’t aware of what DevOps practices have to offer.
So, what is DevOps? In a nutshell, it encourages the combination of ‘Development’ and ‘Operations’, with the underlying logic being that having IT departments pool resources, experience and knowledge can bring about major benefits. This can include greater compatibility and collaboration, faster, higher-quality results, and even more free time to add additional features to IT-powered products and services.
At the same time, DevOps also emphasizes the need for ‘Agile’ working, with small, iterative releases. Not only can these smaller projects be completed more quickly, but they are also far easier to check for bugs and other issues.
More a set of practices than a set standard, DevOps has been widely adopted by organizations all over the world. It can even be integrated with other leading frameworks, including ITIL 4.
This guide from Good e-Learning tells you everything you need to know about DevOps and the benefits that it can offer. Find out how DevOps could transform your organization, or even help you take the next step in your career.
