What is TOGAF?
Published: Monday, February 9, 2015
The growth of enterprise architecture (EA) as a discipline has led to the development of a number of ‘enterprise architecture frameworks’. However, few of these are as renowned as TOGAF, ‘The Open Group Architecture Framework’.
Developed and maintained by The Open Group (itself working within the ‘Architecture Forum’), TOGAF is a comprehensive yet general EA framework, built using the combined expertise of EA specialists from numerous industries. It offers both tried and tested methodologies and a set of supporting tools for creating enterprise architectures, driven by the ‘Architecture Development Method (ADM)’.
Unfortunately, jargon tends to get thrown around a lot when it comes to enterprise architecture. So, what is TOGAF? How does it work? How can it benefit businesses? In this video, Mike from Good e-Learning talks you through the origin, purpose, methodology, tools and advantages of the TOGAF framework.
Good e-Learning is an award-winning provider for TOGAF and Enterprise Architecture online courses. At The Open Group Awards in 2018, Good e-Learning won the ‘Outstanding Certification Product’ prize for its TOGAF® 9 Certified course, which has since been updated in line with TOGAF 9.2.
The reason for our success is that we prioritize engagement, utilizing learning tools like interactive videos, motion graphics and gamified quizzes to keep learners interested. We also make our courses fully mobile-accessible, ensuring that students can access learning materials anywhere and from any device.
Whether you are new to TOGAF or a seasoned professional, we can offer courses to help you take the next step in your enterprise architecture career. The TOGAF Awareness course offers an excellent working introduction to the TOGAF framework. Those seeking to become partially or fully qualified in TOGAF can take the TOGAF Foundation or TOGAF Certification course, both of which come complete with FREE vouchers for the TOGAF examinations. We also offer courses which combine TOGAF and ArchiMate, equipping students with both a renowned EA framework and an intuitive graphical language for enterprise architecture. Finally, those who are already certified in TOGAF can take the TOGAF Essentials 2018 course to bridge their knowledge from TOGAF 9.1 to 9.2.
