For many who have completed their TOGAF certification, the biggest challenge they have is the next step – ‘Now what?’ We’ll introduce TOGAF from two perspectives use these to illustrate how TOGAF can be used and implemented.

TOGAF can be daunting and, at about 650 pages, can cause concern with where to start and what to do. We’ll look at how to address implementing TOGAF, the structures you’ll need, the interactions and the types of tools and artefacts that will help.

Finally, we’ll have a look at some of the actual artefacts from different implementations that may help to understand the detail that TOGAF hints at.

Alan Simmonds

Alan Simmonds is a contributor to and practitioner of both TOGAF and COBIT. He has extensive experience and key insights into how they can be used to deal with various data protection challenges. As a DPO, he focuses on the practical, legal, and regulatory objectives of organizations (including accounting, education, food, freight, retail, hospitality, sporting, and medical technology sectors), helping them to recognize, identify, and deliver on their privacy obligations.

Alan has hands-on experience from the board level to the department floor. He has worked on, addressing the legal challenges brought about by data protection law, and has also delivered training on awareness, planning and, management of GDPR and related privacy obligations.

To support his work in data protection, he is currently completing his LLM in Data Protection Law and Intellectual Property Law this year. Outside of his data protection work, Alan is training for his 4th ultramarathon and teaching himself to play the cello.
