TOGAF ADM: The Preliminary Phase - A Quick Overview
Published: Thursday, January 8, 2015
At the core of The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) lies the Architecture Development Method (ADM). In a nutshell, the ADM provides a set of instructions on how to develop or alter enterprise architectures. While the stages are detailed, they are also flexible enough to be altered to suit virtually any organizational or architectural requirements. This has helped to make TOGAF one of the world’s most widely used enterprise architecture frameworks.
The ADM begins with the Preliminary Phase, which is used every time there is a new business directive for enterprise architecture. The phase establishes the parameters for each iteration of the ADM, essentially helping to guide users in creating exactly the right kind of architecture for their organization.
In this video, Mike from Good e-Learning provides an overview of the purpose and methodology of the Preliminary Phase of the TOGAF ADM. Good e-Learning is an award-winning provider of online courses, not just for TOGAF but also for other popular standards and frameworks like ITIL, BPMN, Lean and Six Sigma. We have even been recognized by The Open Group, the organization behind TOGAF, which awarded us the ‘Outstanding Certification Product’ prize for our TOGAF 9 Certified course at The Open Group Awards 2018.
